Place Promotional Campaign

Project Overview:
In this project I researched and documented the San Luis Obispo Farmers Market and created an informational and promotional campaign targeted towards tourists and local visitors. I had the opportunity to create all of the content— type/text and imagery— and apply it to various deliverables to provide an engaging and memorable snapshot of the ‘place.’
The project will allowed me to demonstrate my understanding of typographic and graphic design principles that has been emphasized in previous classes, as well as follow a thorough design process for completion. Research, documentation, possibilities for imagery, and concept sketches followed by exploration and experimentation with type and color + potential design directions.
Main Objectives:
• To develop communication objectives and inform design decisions based on a conceptual direction and the characteristics of the content
• To explore a variety of options for the arrangement of textual elements, informational hierarchy, and the communication of specific information
• To apply typographic and visual design principles to communicate information in a clear, dynamic, and effective manner
• To work through a thorough design process, explore a variety of options, and meet all interim deadlines
• To work within design parameters, apply best practices for building your digital files, and follow all specifications in creating and presenting the project

Initial research of the San Luis Obispo Farmers' Market as well as creating potential concepts and messages.




Type Studies and Conceptual Directions
Some quick type studies to explore different typefaces and type treatments for my campaign. Brainstorming and exploring varying concepts.




Design Development and
Formal Experimentation
Variations of rough draft designs which include poster and brochure explorations.


Final Design
Final deliverables include three posters, a brochure, two tote bags, and three social media post designs. Designs showcased the San Luis Obispo Farmers' Market with a variety of different communicative visual designs.
